Pain Management

Pets experience pain and discomfort under the same conditions as people do. Pain can be due to undergoing surgery, injury caused by trauma, arthritis, and infections. Dental Care

Routine and preventative dental care is essential to pets’ long term health and quality of life. A dental cleaning should be performed on your pet when gingivitis (redness along the gum line) is seen or bleeding during brushing is noticed. An extensive oral exam can determine the extent of gingivitis. Pets with poor oral hygiene will develop plaque build-up and tooth decay and infections. When periodontal disease is left untreated can often lead to other conditions such as heart, lung and kidney diseases.

When treated early, periodontal disease can be kept under control. As the disease progresses, the treatment becomes more involved, meaning longer more intensive (and more costly) dental procedures as well as causing more pain and increased likelihood of adverse health effects. If you suspect the onset of gingivitis, schedule your pets’ appointment with veterinarian for an initial evaluation sooner, rather than later.
